An outbreak of COVID-19 at a long-term care facility in Soap Lake has resulted in at least 30 positive cases.

According to the Grant County Health District, McKay Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center reported the cases among both residents and staff. All residents known to be infected with COVID-19 have been moved out of the facility. One resident recently died of complications from the virus.

Further precautions are being taken to reduce the spread of the virus to additional residents or staff. The health district requested a Department of Health medical surge strike team to conduct a site visit and make additional recommendations.
