Moses Lake Elementary school students in need are going to be warm for the winter after a donation from the local firefighters union.

Their benevolent fund runs the Operation Warm campaign, which buys new coats and works with teachers to identify kids in need and provide them the coats.

KPQ news partner iFiberOne reports about 100 winter coats have been given to kids at four elementary schools - Groff, Midway, Lakeview and Garden Heights - as part of Operation Warm's yearly distribution.

The coats are delivered by firefighters who visit the schools.

The firefighters union says it’s bought more than 600 jackets for children in the area during the past 6 years.

“It truly puts a smile on my face and a glow in my heart when we are able to give back to the children of this community where I serve,” said Operation Warm Coordinator Jason Koziol.

The union lists its sponsors this year as Omni Staffing Services, Moses Lake Education Association and Basin Pacific Insurance Benefits.
