It was a mixed week in terms of initial regular unemployment claims.

Data from the Washington State Employment Security Department reveals Douglas and Grant counties recovered a bit more during the week ending September 11th, with claims down 14% and 16% respectively. Chelan County saw a very slight increase in initial claims, while Okanogan's rose by 14%.

Statewide, weekly initial unemployment claims fell by a substantial 6.6%.

Decreases in layoffs in the construction and healthcare sectors fueled the drop.
