McNeil Canyon Road

Douglas County Fire District 5 says it was sent to a vehicle fire at 6:57pm found the car fully engulfed in flames.

The closure is necessary to allow county crews to complete work on analysis, design and evaluation of the right-of-way acquisitions for a planned roadway realignment and safety improvement project on McNeil Canyon Road, slated for completion in 2025.

State and local crews worked all day Sunday to reinforce fire lines, and mop-up the interior of the fire which burned 76 acres.

Due to high winds causing drifting snow and extremely poor visibility, all roads on the Waterville Plateau and at higher elevations east of Waterville and north of U.S. Highway 2 and south of State Route 17 have been closed, including McNeil Canyon Road and Bridgeport Hill Road...
