The consultant which is chosen will focus on demographics and market research, among other things.

This bill would alter the existing Public Facilities District statute that lets regional communities seek voter approval in order to construct the proposed complex.

The bill would allow for a second public facilities district to be created in Chelan and Douglas counties, which would be in addition to the existing district that brought the Town Toyota Center.

On Dec. 7, Sen. Hawkins told local legislators that this would be the last meeting he would be leading before heading to Olympia for the 2023 legislative session starting January.

The purpose of this meeting was to gather more information on the vision on this project and determine whether they will be building a 50-meter Olympic-size pool, or a combined aquatic and recreational sports center.
