Wenatchee High School's Ski and Snowboard program will have a new trailer for the upcoming school year that can make winter sports equipment.

Superintendent Dr. Paul Gordon spoke in Thursday's School Board meeting in favor of an agreement that would provide that opportunity for the students.

"What we know about our kids is they have to be engaged, they have to be able to manipulate things, they have to be able to fail. This is a great launching point for where I believe we should be going for many of our students."

Community Fabrications will manufacture the trailer. Funds will come out of the Career and Technical Education budget that must be used this year, or given back to the state.

Career and Technical Education Director Jake Bucholz says the group already does some building, but this improve their capabilities significantly.

"It will allow us to have more kids building at the same time, but also the biggest thing is the software and the tooling technology to do things more rapidly."

Bucholz also noted that this will allow the students more opportunities for real world learning and experience with the material science and fabrication uses.
