Congresswoman Kim Schrier sent a letter Monday to PGA of America President Jim Richerson asking him and the PGA to strongly consider holding the 2022 PGA Championship at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish.

Last week the PGA announced it would no longer play the 2022 PGA Championship at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster.

In the letter, Schrier said, "Perhaps most importantly, Washington’s 8th Congressional district and the broader Pacific Northwest embody the PGA of America’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and hospitality. We welcome all visitors with warmth and enthusiasm, no matter their background."

Sahalee has hosted large-scale championship golf tournaments in the past, most notably the 1998 PGA Championship and the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship.

Schrier and her family currently live in Sammamish.
