The Washington State Department of Health gave its first weekly update to Governor Jay Inslee's Healthy Washington - Roadmap to Recovery plan.

According to the department, all eight regions in Washington will remain in Phase 1 until at least Monday, January 25th. Regions must meet four metrics in order to move into Phase 2. They are:

  • A decreasing trend of 10% or more in the two-week rate of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population
  • A decreasing trend of 10% or more in the two-week rate of new COVID-19 hospitalizations
  • Less than 90% Intensive Care Unit occupancy
  • COVID-19 test positivity must be less than 10%

The North Central Region has passing statistics in case count and ICU occupancy and is one of only two regions to even have a slight decrease in hospitalizations. The largest hurdle for the region appears to be test positivity, which must be less than 10% but is currently 15%.
