Drop-off bursh yards at both the Dryden and Chelan transfer stations are now closed to the general public until further notice.

Chelan County Public Works PIO Jill FitzSimmons said the decision was made for the safety of the public, and so that brush yard employees can better follow social distancing policies.

"It also allows us to keep our other procedures in place to keep those transfer stations open." FitzSimmons explained, "We did have two employees working at the scale house. That's a very small building, so we've got to take that down to one person."

In the meantime, residents are asked to either hold that yard waste on their property for now, or take their yard waste to the Stemilt Organic Recycling facility.

The transfer stations are open to the general public on Fridays and Saturdays during their regular hours, but only household garbage will be taken on those days. The brush yards are still open to contractors who already have accounts with Chelan County Public Works or North Chelan Recovery and Recycling.

Fitzsimmons added that they are watching the coronavirus situation carefully and will reopen the brush yards to the general public as soon as possible.
