With our feet firmly and safely planted in 2021, here is a final look at how COVID-19 affected our region and state during the 'Year of the Pandemic'. Some numbers may grow based on reporting standards.

Through December 31st, the Chelan-Douglas Health District reports Chelan County experienced 5,155 cases of coronavirus and 31 COVID-related deaths, while Douglas County saw 2,716 positive cases and 7 deaths.

Grant County has struggled the most during the pandemic, with several outbreaks at long-term care facilities. According to the Health District, the county had 6,924 positive cases and 83 deaths in 2020.

Okanogan County Public Health is reporting 1,756 cases and 32 dead.

The State Department of Health says (as of December 30th) Washington experienced 237,165 cases last year, and 3,461 Washingtonians died from the virus.
