The Associated Students of Wenatchee Valley College at Omak and student club, Red Road Association, are hosting a "Foods and Families" virtual presentation Friday from 1-2 p.m.

Dan Nanamkin, who is from the Syilx tribe and lives on the Colville Indian Reservation, will lead the presentation. Nanamkin will discuss his work with sustainability and promotion of tribal food sovereignty.

"This event is a great event for students to learn about Indigenous foods, sustainability when it comes to our native traditions," said Livia Millard, multicultural coordinator.

The free presentation will be via Zoom and is open to the public. To register, visit here.

"The attendees are going to come out of this presentation with a deeper understanding of native cultures, connecting to the Earth, the food, the animals," said Millard.

Dan will speak about his awakening at Standing Rock and the work he continues to do across the country.
