Health Secretary Shah Says Washington State at ‘Halftime’ in COVID Struggle

Secretary of Health Umair Shah has been on the job for just over a week now, and provided an update on his transition progress Wednesday.

Shah said he has been leaning on his fellow Department of Health staff as he adjusts.

"We are learning from each other." explained Shah, "There are things about my style and my way of leading which is also going to bring my own flair to things, my own spin on things. I'm also learning the team."

Shah also provided an update on Washington State's progress, saying that the state is essentially at halftime in our contest against COVID-19. The Health Secretary added that Washington is beginning the 2nd half with vaccines, and the next biggest challenge will be getting those vaccines into people.
