Highway Closure Update

State Route 97 from milepost 265.2 at Brewster to milepost 286.18, the junction at SR 20, is now open.

UPDATE: September 8th @ 2:00 pm

Highway 2 has reopened from east of Waterville to the junction with State Route 17.

UPDATE: September 8th @ 1:20 pm

Closure on SR 173 both directions between milepost 2.5 near Dezellem Hill Rd, and milepost 11, due to fire operations beginning at 1:07 pm on September 8, 2020 until further notice. There is no estimated time of reopening.

WSDOT reports Highway 2 remains closed from east of Waterville to the junction with State Route 17 due to fire activity, as is a section of Highway 97 between Brewster and the junction of SR 20.

Communications Manager Lauren Loebsack stated the closure of SR 173 towards Mansfield has been lifted since the fire has fallen back in that area.

Loebsack said, "We will have our crews out there continuing to provide support and some traffic control as necessary. They are going to be asking you to go slow through areas that have burned."

Drivers are cautioned to continue to be attentive to fire activity as well as fire response.
