The Moses Lake School District is working on a separation agreement with it's superintentent.

The school board says a recent audit raised questions about Superintendent Joshua Meek's use of district money and credit cards.

The board says it has not found evidence that Meeks was inappropriately seeking personal gain from his actions, but admitted to using poor judgement.

Meek's separation from the Moses Lake School District will be effective at the end of the month, and the board is now looking for a replacement.

The school board is meeting Friday to further discuss the matter.

A news release from the board said the audit raised questions about:

  • Payment of special project money to all school principals, assistant principals, district office staff, and district lead administrators (including Dr. Meek) without prior Board approval;

  • Failure by Meek to provide receipts for his use of a District credit card for purchases he’d made for District-needed goods, supplies, and services;

  • Failure to comply with District policies governing timely reimbursement for personal purchases he’d made using that card;

  • Perceived inaccuracies in Dr. Meek’s reporting of personal leave time he’d taken.
