Okanogan County Sheriff Tony Hawley penned a letter to residents saying they are trying to balance public health and safety with not infringing on the rights of the individual, but stopping short of saying he will not enforce the Stay Home order.

Hawley says he has been in contact with the Governor's office saying that the County does not fit in the same mold as more populous counties and due to the geography and lifestyle is well equipped for social distancing.

Hawley has implored the governor to permit all construction and small businesses to re-open with social distancing measures in place.
