Residents across the country may have noticed a post card in their mailbox recently from the Postal Service regarding tips and information on mail-in ballots.

Douglas County Auditor Thad Duvall said these mailers can be very confusing if you vote in Washington State.

"One of the things about the mailers is they ask people to request their absentee ballot 15 day before the election." explained Duvall, "We want everyone to know that in the State of Washington we all vote by mail and every registered voter will be mailed a ballot and they do not need to request an absentee ballot."

The mailer also indicates that you should add postage if needed, but ballot postage is paid for in the state.

The Postal Service specifically told Duvall and others that first class mail will take 2 to 5 days. Duvall added that if you're within several days of the election and still need to mail your ballot, consider taking it to a county drop box instead.

Ballots will be mailed out in Douglas County October 13th, similar to other counties.
