Though in a self proclaimed 'dream stage', the city of Quincy has set aside roughly $8 million in its preliminary budget to begin the motions for a new recreation center.

Several locations have been mulled over for possibilities such as East Park or near Lauzier Park. According to Pat Haley, city administrator, the rec center could be a number of different indoor functions from a gymnasium to a pickleball court.

"We're setting aside money, so when it's time to do something, we'll have the budget in place to move forward," said Haley. "Some of that initially might involve engineering and design. It might involve consultant work to help the city with the master plan, kind of do some community outreach to see what the community wants, what they're willing to support."

The city is currently moving pieces around, however there isn't anything specific nailed down in terms of a building or project.
