The Quincy School District is asking for public help in reporting social media accounts that show photos of students and staff without their consent.

The district says its official graphics and Jackrabbit logo are being used on Instagram sites that are not in any way associated with the district.

“Over the past several weeks, the district has been reporting to Instagram several Instagram accounts using district graphics that are not in any way associated with the district, said Quincy School District in  a statement. "We have been reporting these accounts to Instagram across multiple accounts and devices,” the district wrote. “If you see any of these Instagram accounts, please help us by reporting them to Instagram and blocking them.”

The sites contain photos of students and staff with captions that can be derogatory or vulgar.

One site is composed of mostly photos of shoes in bathrooms with various captions.  It also has photos of students and staff posed in uncomplimentary positions, along with graphic comments. In addition. it has a video showing a violent fight between two female students.

Quincy Police have been investigating threats against Middle School students in the past week that involve social media and Instagram.

Police Captain Ryan Green said that activity appears to be kids doing a social media challenge, which has also cropped up at schools in Wenatchee and Moses Lake.

Quincy School District posted a link on its Facebook page to an "Internet Safety" page from the Washington Superintendent of Public Instruction.
