The Schneider Springs Fire northwest of Yakima is now over 107,000 acres and 43% contained.

Warm weather over the weekend gave firefighters the opportunity to make considerable progress toward complete containment of the fire's northern edge. Fire growth has mainly been limited to unburned fingers in the rugged terrain of the wilderness on the blaze's west flank.

Crews continue to utilize water drops and controlled fire in less secure portions of the perimeter.

Roughly 439 fire personnel are working the blaze.
