Representative Kim Schrier wrote a letter to Governor Inslee Friday expressing her disappointment that Kittitas County is not moving on to Phase 2 of the Roadmap to Recovery plan.

In her letter Schrier says, "(Now), a year into this pandemic, the data makes it clear that including Kittitas County in the South Central region is unnecessarily harming Kittitas."

According to the state dashboard the county not only has a better set of metrics than the state average, but were Kittitas its own region, it would be the best-performing region by the metrics overall in the state.

Kittitas County's unemployment in 2020 was also the highest of the counties in the South Central region at 8.9%.

Schrier suggested that Kittitas either move on to Phase 2 on its own, or join the North Central region.

Currently, the soonest the South Central region could make it to Phase 2 is March 1st, but the region would need to see significant improvement for that to happen.
