Slidewaters Working on Appeal, Projects for the Future

Slidewaters Water Park in Chelan closed their doors Monday to guests after the state won a critical court decision.

Co-Owner Robert Bordner says they have appealed the decision so they can reopen.

"We'll also be talking to them about different avenues and different ways that we can still operate our business and ways to generate some money. We know that the state is not fond of water parks in particular opening even though there's the natural waterway parks that are wide open and doing their thing."

Bordner says they are hoping to keep open their food and retail stores to keep some employees on the job and generate revenue.

They will also be working on finishing construction projects to an expansion at the park.

"Everyone always asks, 'If you get that going, can we open that?' We don't know, but we can definitely get to the place where we'll be able to open it and we can pitch that to the Chelan-Douglas Health District as well as the state. It's operated quite a bit differently than the standard water parks."

Bordner says they are doing most of the work themselves though there is a company that they have to get into the country from Germany to finish it.
