State Vaccination Rate Causes Confusion

The Washington State Department of Health says despite a tweet from a senior federal official, we have not reached a 70% vaccination rate for COVID-19 which the Governor has said could prompt an earlier loosening of restrictions.

A senior White House Office member of the COVID response team tweeted a congratulations to Washington for reaching the 70% threshold.

DOH says the CDC is using an incorrect population figure and only counting people 18 and older.

The state says more than 63% are vaccinated as of June 2nd.
