They approved the letter Monday, which calls for a task force funded by the state legislature to examine jail modernization.

The bill would ban drivers from turning right at red lights within 1,000 feet of specific buidings and areas, such as schools, libraries, hospitals and public transit centers.

Among other things, it requires certain cities and counties to take action to reduce vehicle miles traveled.
