State officials addressed the unprecedented fires raging throughout Washington Tuesday, as more acres burned across the state Monday than 12 of the last 13 fire seasons.

In fact, more acres were burned Monday in Washington than the entirety of last year.

Commissioner of Public Lands Hillary Franz said most of the state is still in extreme fire danger, with 58 starts Monday and 9 significant fires now burning in Eastern Washington. She blamed hurricane-force winds to powering the fires and grounding Washington's air resources.

Roughly 1,500 firefighters are on the ground in Washington state, and the National Guard has been called in to assist on the fire lines.

Despite the explosion of fires and 100,00 people in the state still without power, no deaths have been reported so far.

Governor Jay Inslee said all the fires are believed to be human caused in some dimension, and all it takes right now is just a spark. Inslee added that Washington State has a new hotter and drier climate, and it's citizens must learn to live with it and address the new issues it brings.

Inlsee stated that he has directed the state's Emergency Management Division and the Department of Social and Health Services to determine what emergency proclamations he will need to make to expedite assistance.
