The Wenatchee School Board will remain online until at least the November 2nd election after making the decision during a contentious meeting Tuesday. The board has been online since a threat was made against two of its members through a Craigslist post.

Most members of the board seemed to agree that if at least one member felt uncomfortable or unsafe, then the board should present itself as a unified front and remain online. No objections to remaining online were made when requested by Board Chair Laura Jaecks.

While the board would normally be in violation of the Open Public Meetings Act by conducting business online, virtual meetings are currently allowed in Washington State under Governor Inslee's emergency COVID orders.

It's possible, perhaps even likely, that extra security will be used whenever the board does return to in-person meetings.

Much of the in-person discussion consisted of members Michelle Sandberg and Maria Iniguez grilling fellow board member Julie Norton on her involvement in a protest that shut down the last in-person meeting in late August.

The full board meeting can be found here. The discussion on in-person meetings begins around 1:09:35.
