The Wenatchee School Board is considering two proposals to drastically change how the board's positions are elected.

Both proposals would create either 3 or 4 physical districts in the Wenatchee area, with enough at-large positions to bring the school board up to 5 members.

Danielle Marchant with Sammamish Data, who put together the proposals, said if the board adopts one of the plans between now and November, all five board positions will come up for election in 2023.

"So you would have all the board members run for election." stated Marchant, "That's required by statute."

Marchant recommended the 4-distrct, single at-large position plan. The plan would include a Hispanic-majority district, something the 3-district plan would not do.
