Wenatchee School District Superintendent Paul Gordon will be around for at least three more years after the Board agreed to a two-year contract extension Monday night.

Gordon's contract will now run through June of 2024. The contract was the most time the board was allowed to extend the superintendent by.

Board President Laura Jaecks said that normally Gordon would have been evaluated on previous goals from his last assessment, but due to the COVID pandemic he was instead evaluated based off of the current circumstances.

Jaecks identified two goals the board wants Gordon and the district to focus on; developing a good strategic direction and setting up students for success.

"We know that there has been a different level of learning during COVID than we would hope for." Jaecks explained, "So we have a goal around academic performance and regaining any losses that might have occurred during the time of COVID so that every student can succeed."

Gordon will now earn almost $203,000 a year plus benefits. He is finishing his second school year as the head of Wenatchee Schools.
