Between the opening bid on February 2nd, and the original deadline of March 29th, the Wenatchee Federal Building had four bids on it. Starting on the 29th, more than 30 bids have come in with the top bid now a little more than $1.5 million.

Wenatchee Mayor Frank Kuntz said, "To see what's happened in the last 48 hours where you're getting down to the deadline and all of a sudden three other bidders jumped in and the price has gone up $400,000 in less than a week."

Mayor Kuntz says the city has been authorized to bid on the building by the city council but did not confirm whether or not they are still in the running. The current deadline is Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Five more bids have come in from yesterday evening and a 3rd bidder returning into the fold with Mayor Kuntz noting that more could be on the way.

"What's interesting is that you don't know when it's going to end. It might end Saturday, it might end Sunday, it could end next Wednesday. You don't really know. It's just an interesting process and we're monitoring it very closely."
