The Wenatchee Valley YMCA says 1,300 people took part in its survey about a new facility it plans to build.

The survey revealed that a swimming pool and aquatic center (98%) are its most important feature, followed by a state-of-the-art fitness center (94%) and an Early Learning Childcare Center (87%).

Respondents were also asked to separate the needs of their own households vs. the needs of the community, and the same three priorities topped each category - a swimming pool, a gym and a fitness center.

The YMCA plasn to spent $22 million on a new building complex, and has so far raised $4 million toward that end.

The survey also rated the importance of amenities such as group exercise studios, an indoor walking track, a commercial kitchen and a cafe.

The survey noted the importance of accessible childcare in the community, where an Early Learning Childcare Center (ages 0-3yrs) was rated "extremely important by 60% of respondents.
