A large brush fire burning about four miles east of Kittitas has been contained. The fire is thought to have started along the Vantage Highway around 1:00 pm Friday.

According to the Central Washington Interagency Communications Center, the fire is estimated at 325 acres and is thought to be fully contained and in mop-up. Local fire crews as well as firefighters from the Department of Natural Resources responded to the blaze. Aircraft was utilized during the response.

It is unclear if an earlier report that at one point structures were threatened is correct, but there has been no indication that any have been lost. The fire was mainly burning eastward in rural brush.

The cause is under investigation.
