Activity On Twentyfive Mile Fire Growing, But So Is Containment
Crews on the Twentyfive Mile Fire west of Chelan are expecting a lot of fire activity Monday after a busy weekend.
Operations Section Chief Trainee Caleb Finch said the fire is expected to move to the west, southwest and south.
"They have completed all the hose lay around the necessary values at risk (homes, outbuildings) that would need it. So their mission today is to evaluate the need for additional hose lays in areas that may have missed it." explained Finch, "They are going to test the equipment and they are going to test the hose lays."
Containment lines are expected to be completed along the southern perimeter where firing operations will be used when necessary for reinforcement.
The blaze is 32% contained and has burned an estimated 11,394 acres. 772 structures are currently threatened and one primary building has been lost.
