Local nonprofit, Alatheia Therapeutic Riding Center, launched an online competition, Apple Cup Horserace, in place of its two major fundraisers to spur folks to support the riding center.

The Little Black Dress Party and the Run for the Roses Benefit Gala were cancelled as a result pandemic restrictions. Both fundraisers contribute 60% of the funds needed to provide therapeutic riding.

"In order to fund our programing for the next year, we needed to come up with something different that didn't require people in person at an event," said Nancy Gretti, executive director.

The organization is aiming for the goal of $250,000 with roughly $33,000 currently raised. Vote for a horse and team, here.

"Alatheia's the only therapeutic riding center in North Central Washington and we serve four counties," said Gretti. "People with disabilities are very isolated and underserved. The pandemic has hit them especially hard."

Alatheia offers therapeutic and adaptive riding programs and serves a wide variety of special needs.
