A brush fire in the 4700 block of Stemilt Creek Road flared up Tuesday afternoon.

Chelan County Fire District 1 Chief Brian Brett said they responded to the fire around 3:20 pm.

"We arrived and found about an acre on fire with spread potential in the area. However, this particular spot ended up not being a substantial threat. Based on fire potential we did launch the helicopter," said Brett.

The helicopter was never used. The fire was in mop-up by 4:30 pm.

Resources from Chelan County Fire District 1, Douglas County Fire District 2, Bureau of Land Management, Forest Service and DNR all responded.

The cause is under investigation.
