Chelan County is allocating $73,000 for the county coroner to purchase a cold storage trailer, also referred to as a mobile morgue trailer. The purchase comes after Confluence Health and local funeral homes' morgues reached capacity.

"It's something that we had been looking in the past for a mass causality incident, which hopefully never occurs in our community, but if it does we'll be prepared for that," said Commissioner Kevin Overbay.

The trailer would be able to hold up to 16 individuals and would be a permanent fixture for the county. According to Overbay, it's more cost effective to purchase a mobile morgue than renting a cold storage trailer.
