Chelan County is one of three counties in the state being sued over voter discrimination.

The lawsuit, filed by a Tri-Cities woman, the League of United Latin American Citizens and the Latino Community fund claims that more than 4,500 Latinos were denied their right to vote in 2020.

They say that ballots with Spanish surnames were more likely to have their ballots scrutinized and rejected because of a signature mismatch.

In Chelan County, Latino voters were, according to the suit, 3.2 times more likely than Anglo voters to have their ballots rejected due to a signature.
