The city of Chelan is conducting its Community Agency Funding process slightly different this year. The Community Agency funding is set aside for nonprofit agencies that help those in the Chelan community in need for food security and affordable housing, such as the Chelan Valley Housing Trust.

Applicants will have to provide a short presentation to council.

"We're asking the agencies to come forward and talk to the council about what they're going to use the funding for, their need, just to see how they could qualify," said Wade Farris, city administrator.

Agencies have until October 13 to complete their application and confirm with the city clerk by October 2 to be placed on the schedule.

"We don't have unlimited funds. The council needs to prioritize the funding and make sure it goes to the right place where the agencies have the most need," said Farris.
