Climber Rescued from Pine Canyon Thursday Night

RiverCom received a report from a passing motorist of flames on a hillside in Pine Canyon Thursday night around 9:15.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, deputies and personnel from Douglas County Fire District 1 responded to the area and determined the reported fire was actually an injured climber.

38-year-old Jon Davis of East Wenatchee had suffered a non-life threatening leg injury and was not able to climb down from where he was. Due to the steepness of the terrain, members of the Chelan County High Angle Rescue Team responded to assist with removing Davis.

He was transported by Waterville Ambulance to Central Washington Hospital for treatment.
