The Colville Tribes' casinos are finalizing details after getting federal approval to start offering sports gambling.

The tribes run three gaming houses known as the 12 Tribes casinos in Omak, Lake Chelan, and Coulee Dam.

They're hoping the addition of sports gambling will help boost the local economy in their communities.

“This approval marks an important economic milestone for our casinos," said Colville Tribal Chairman Andy Joseph. This new kind of gaming will help attract visitors from around the country and allow us to further support the economy of our region. We look forward to opening our doors for sports betting in the near future and welcoming everyone to come watch and enjoy all kinds of games and events with us.”

The Colville casinos join gaming operations in Snoqualmie, Spokane and Puyallup in getting federal approval in the last month to start up sports gambling.

The approval through the Department of the Interior allowed for a sports betting amendment to the tribes’ gaming compacts.
