Public Information Officers from around the region are working to promote the Blue Ribbon Campaign, a community-wide appreciation effort for local healthcare workers.

Community members around town are being asked to tie blue ribbons on trees and poles.

Chelan County Public Works PIO Jill FitzSimmons said, "We think this is kind of a fun thing to do with youth groups, non-profit organizations, businesses and even private citizens."

FitzSimmons added that for those purchasing ribbon, make sure to get flagger ribbon or check out a local craft store.

Back in November, Chelan-Douglas Health Officer Dr. Malcolm Butler suggested the idea of a ribbon campaign during one of his Better Together videos. A month later, members of the Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce also mentioned the idea, and local PIOs took the project from there.
