County Commissioner: Lower Number of Chelan Co. Short Term Rentals Registered than Anticipated

Chelan County is reporting 606 short term rental permits approved, as of February. The county had 35 existing permits to process and 182 new short term rental permits to process.

"The numbers are a lot less than we had expected, it'll be interesting to see this summer how many short term rentals are operating without a permit and to go through that process with code enforcement to make sure that they are compliant," said Chelan County Commissioner Tiffany Gering.

Existing short term rental operators had to submit an application to be grandfathered into Chelan County’s new short term rental code.
