The Washington State Department of Transportation and Chelan County Sheriff's Office are reminding motorists that Highway 97A at Knapps Hill Tunnel is closed after an SUV was abandoned after being disabled by rocks.

The vehicle was found Tuesday with large rocks underneath and air bags deployed.

The Sheriff's Office says there are plenty of road closed signs and they are applicable to all drivers.

The DOT says the vehicle attempted to drive in the area with the rock stuck under the car for roughly a mile before abandoning it.

Washington State Patrol Trooper John Bryant says it's expected to be about a 4-week closure.
