The Eastmont School Board gave Superintendent Garn Christensen their approval regarding the district's progress toward a new 5-year-plan last week.

Christensen said he asked the board last year if they would be willing to pause their current 5-year strategic plan to incorporate some changes in order to create more building autonomy.

"We have a goal of what we call '80-20' in Eastmont. We would hope that 80% of what we do in our schools is more similar than different." explained Christensen, "This is because of the mobility that we see in our community, as well as just the need to make sure that we have a good common core program."

The district's strategic plan normally includes goals in areas like students, instruction, communication, personnel, management support, facilities, grants and activities.

Christensen added they hope to have a new strategic plan in place for next year by the summer. The plan would run through the 2025-26 school year.
