Grant County Sheriff's Office will have marine patrol deputies out on the water this weekend in an effort to crack down on impaired boaters for the 'Operation Dry Water' nationwide event. Marine patrol deputies will be on lakes and the Columbia River looking for people suspected of boating under the influence from July 2nd through the 4th.

"Persons found boating under the influence can expect to incur severe penalties ," said Kyle Foreman, public information officer. "If a boat operator is determined to be BUI, the boat may be impounded and the operator may be arrested."

Operation Dry Water is a national awareness and enforcement campaign in an effort to reduce alcohol and drug related boating accidents.
