Despite COVID-19, downtown Chelan will still be bustling with a drive-thru trick or treat event, thanks to the Historic Downtown Chelan Association.

Folks can drive through downtown Chelan from 5-7 p.m. on Halloween for goody bags and to participate in the 'Car-stume' Contest.

"There was a group of us that got together and wanted to make sure there was still something fun to do downtown," said Erin McCardle, executive director. "We've planned to reverse trick or treating."

The first and second block of Woodin Avenue will be an outdoor haunted house themed.

"We're doing a 'Car-stume' Contest where if you want to decorate your car and then anyone inside and in a theme for a costume contest," said McCardle.

Those hoping to drive through should start in Chelan High School parking lot, proceed to Woodin Avenue to cross the Old Bridge and head into downtown.

The week after Halloween, the community can vote on the favorite Car-stume contest with prizes available for first and second place. There will be a category for both Halloween and Los Dias de Los Muertos
