Governor Inslee announced Friday that he is signing an emergency proclamation giving every K-12 student in the state access to in-person instruction by requiring schools to provide both remote and in-person schooling.

Inslee said schools are prohibited from refusing the option.

"There is now unfortunately, undeniably a mental healthcare crisis in our state regarding our youth." stated Inslee, "So now is the time for our schools to return this option for in-person learning."

Elementary grade students must have the option for in-person instruction by April 5th, and all secondary students by April 19th. Also by April 19th, school districts must provide at least 30% of its average pre-pandemic instructional hours in-person, and must provide in-person contact to students at least two days a week.

Washington State first shuttered its schools one year ago Saturday.
