Governor Jay Inslee issued Friday an extension of the utility moratorium proclamation he first made in April of 2020.

According to the Governor's Office, the proclamation will now expire on September 30th in order to align with the end date of the eviction moratorium 'bridge' Inslee announced June 24th. Until the moratorium expires, utility providers are prohibited from shutting off service to customers for non-payment.

The Governor's Office is encouraging utilities to help customers identify financial assistance programs, offer extended payment plans, waive various fees, and refrain from reporting overdue accounts to credit bureaus.
