Governor Jay Inslee addressed the national halt on Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine distribution during a press conference Thursday.

With six instances of blood clots possibly linked to the vaccine that's already seen about seven million doses administered, Inslee said there is a better chance someone will be struck by lightning.

"When we talked to the White House, what they explained is that one of the principal reasons for the pause was to make sure that physicians had the right therapy in the event you have one of these very, very rare events," Inslee explained.

Inslee also confirmed that scientists from every state involved in the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup will meet regarding the issue, but he's unsure of Washington's role.
