Lake Chelan School District is inviting voters in the area an educational forum on Wednesday evening to learn about two tax levy measures expected to be on the February special election ballot.

"One is for a (educational) programs and operations levy (EP&O) and we also have a tech levy. Both those levies expire in February so these are both replacement levies for us," said Superintendent Barry DePaoli.

According to DePaoli, the total for both the EP&O levy and the technology levy is about $1.41 per $1,000 of assessed value. This breaks down to roughly $1.31 and just over 9 cents for the tech levy.

"(It's) actually a little bit less than what homeowners paid in 2019 and this will be based on property tax estimates for the upcoming year," said DePaoli.

The meeting will be at 6:30 in the new district learning center. During the forum, the district wants to educate voters on the new parameters for levies that has been established by somewhat recent legislature. DePaoli also stated the district will be open to hearing feedback on what the community sees as needs that are underfunded by the state and should be prioritized in Lake Chelan schools.
