The Washington State Department is reminding motorists that lane closures are planned for this week starting Monday April 11.

Lauren Loebsack with WSDOT, says lane closures for roadwork have begun for the region. " We have projects throughout the region for both maintenance and projects that are getting going. So you might hit work out there. We try to keep delays to a minimum, and try to be considerate of peoples' time. But we have to get the work done."

Beginning Monday morning, motorists should expect delays on Highway 97 for bridge deck patching on Beebe Bridge in Chelan, and farther north on Griggs Canyon Bridge in Pateros. The Beebe Bridge lane closure begins Monday through Thursday at milepost 234, from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. On Griggs Canyon Bridge, a temporary signal will be in place for 24 hours beginning Monday through Friday afternoon April 15.

Loebsack says that drivers should stay alert for bicyclists and motorcyclists, and to obey traffic control when traveling through work zones. "Next week is National Work-Zone Awareness Week," Loebsack said.

Updates for bridge work will be shared on the WSDOT real time travel map, and on Twitter @ WSDOT East.
