Okanogan County Public Health is reporting an outbreak of COVID-19 with 26 cases linked to the OMAK Stampede Rodeo.

The county is working to find any other people who have the virus after attending the rodeo, which took place over four days earlier this month.

It’s urging anyone who went to the Stampede, or knows somebody who did, to watch for COVID-19 symptoms.

Okanogan County reported a high number of cases Monday, and then identified one fully vaccinated person who has been hospitalized with the virus.

It had previously found that no one who is fully vaccinated had been hospitalized.

The rodeo took place August 12-15 in Omak. Okanogan County Public Health issued a statement Wednesday, saying it’s working with Colville Confederated Tribes Health and Human Services and other county public health partners to identify cases in people who may have attended the OMAK Stampede.

“As of today, we are aware of over two dozen lab confirmed COVID-19 cases in people who attended the event,” said Lauri Jones, Community Health Director for Okanogan County.
